Flowing ribs run across the whole surface, winding around the body, converging at the waist and fanning out again toward the mouth. In doing so the form turns in on itself — no two viewing angles are alike. NYX does not look made, but grown.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003ePumice is a light gray with visible speckling — the surface is not one flat color but finely shot through, which makes it look livelier up close than from a distance. Here the ribs show themselves through shadow rather than color; the whole surface shifts with the angle of the light. The color sits in the material, not in a coat of paint — it cannot chip off.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eNYX is intended for dried flowers and dried branches — cotton stems, pampas grass, eucalyptus. They need no water, and the narrow waist holds them before the form opens out again toward the mouth. For single fresh stems a glass insert is permanently fitted; water goes in there and nowhere else.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePrinted, not thrown.\u003c\/strong\u003e The form is developed on the computer and built up layer by layer in 3D printing, on an FDM machine in the studio in Memmingen. The fine lines on the surface are exactly those layers. They stay visible because they show how the vessel came to be.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eEverything after that happens object by object: deburring, breaking edges, setting the felt base, checking, packing. Every piece has its number and its batch entered on the Object Card.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe weight comes from a steel core in the base. It sits in a sealed capsule and gives the vessel a low center of gravity — hold it to your ear and you will hear it faintly.
